Tears
Tears and their physiology are truly an amazing and loving creation of our great God.
The working title of one of the books I have written over the years is “Theology of Tears”. It’s publishable now...but not ready...it’s raw.
Our tears are important to God. He keeps track of them. Your tears go somewhere when they flow...to our Lord. He collects ALL of your tears (Psalm 56:8). He is present with every tear we shed. King David...a warrior poet man’s man who cried a lot...knew this well when he wrote Psalm 56 through his own tears.
I broke tonight and cried deeper tears than I have cried since the night and days after my brother was killed. Best of Times Tears and Worst of Times Tears mixed together. In other words...real life tears because we all know that is what life is...Best of Times/Worst of Times...every day both seem present...sometimes minute to minute. Not ironically, it was brought on by my sharing with Melanie something really amazing that happened.
The physical feeling you have after the deepest tears flow is...peace. Relief. Gratitude. Genuine laughter and joy ironically follow. How awe inspiring. Even our tears cause us to worship. So let them out when they try to come out.
Like I said tears are an amazing creation of our great God.
